Hello, Readers!
Long before I understood how poems worked on the page, I loved how they worked in the air—how rhythm, repetition, and a well-timed pause could turn ordinary words into something memorable. Poetry taught me that language isn’t just about meaning; it’s about music, feeling, and play.
That’s why I wrote this book to be read out loud. To babies who are still figuring out the world through sound. To kids who are discovering that words can be funny, surprising, and powerful. And to grown-ups who might pretend this book is “for the children,” but secretly enjoy a good poem too.
These poems don’t always follow the rules—and that’s intentional. I wanted them to feel alive, curious, and a little bananas. I also wanted to celebrate animals, because they’re endlessly fascinating, slightly ridiculous, and perfect companions for poetry. They invite questions, laughter, and imagination.
My hope is that this book sparks joyful reading moments—stretching words, changing voices, and discovering that the same poem can feel different every time you read it. That, to me, is the magic of poetry.
About Me
I write playful, read-aloud poetry for kids. Poems are a great way to educate, inspire, and entertain children from the earliest ages.
Beyond my writing, I’ve spent almost 20 years working in technology, venture capital, and national security at organizations at including Point72 Ventures, Plaid, and In-Q-Tel. I received my Masters in Mathematics & Statistics from Georgetown University and my Bachelors in Physics from Wake Forest University.
I live in Seattle with my wife Kayla, newborn son Jack, and our Coton de Tulear dogs, Griffey and Edgar (who are convinced this book is about them). My favorite animals are meerkats, bears, foxes, and owls.
I also eat tons of bananas. 🍌
